The musicians who form the Quintessential Quartet work across a wide area of the profession, playing for traditional Symphony Orchestras, Opera Companies and Chamber Ensembles. They also have a strong interest in the lighter side of music, however, playing for shows, swing bands, backing groups, etc., which gives The Quartet a great variety of styles to draw upon.

Amanda Rowden-Martin, the director of The Quintessential Quartet, performed for many years on the very best cruise ships, giving Classical Recitals and Broadway-style shows. She has also been Musical Consultant for large out-of-town Shopping Malls and she is now the Orchestral Manager of The English Philharmonic Orchestra. She has played for many members of The Royal Family on several occasions and performed alongside many well-known musicians, actors and comedians. She has a busy freelance career, playing for several orchestras, opera companies and chamber ensembles.

Although the musicians featured may not always be available, we have many colleagues, some of them former members of The Quartet who are now playing full-time with orchestras including the BBC Philharmonic, Liverpool Philharmonic, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Opera North and Welsh National Opera, who enjoy playing with us whenever possible. These Associate Members keep our standards high and our enthusiasm fresh!
